Bio
I hold a BA in Foreign Languages (2024) from the University of Vigo and an MA in Advanced English Studies (2025), from the same university. In my MA dissertation, I studied code-mixing in spoken Gibraltar English, under the supervision of Elena Seoane. In my PhD thesis, I am exploring the factors that condition non-categorical complementiser variation in Gibraltar English finiite complement clauses under the supervision of Elena Seoane and Lucía Loureiro-Porto.
In the fourth year of my BA, I was granted the "Beca de Colaboración" from the Spanish Ministry of Education, to collaborate as a research assitant in the Department of English, French and German of the University of Vigo (from November 2023 to June 2024). During this period, I transcribed and coded spoken materials from the Gibraltar component of the International Corpus of English, under the supervision of Elena Seoane.

Corpora compilation
During my PhD studies, I aim to compile a wider variety of oral texts from spoken Gibraltar English, to build a larger corpus than the one I currently have. This corpus will be the Corpus of Spoken Gibraltar English (SGibE), which will be available online after completion. The written transcriptions will be published alongside the corresponding audio files. It will include oral texts from different podcasts and programs where the participants speak Gibraltar English.
For the moment, I have only transcribed seasons one, three and four of the Gibraltarian podcast Street Talk (c. 400,000 words), where speakers discuss, in an informal register, a wide range of topics regarding the current situation of Gibraltarian society, culture and politics, among other issues.
My main interests in ViEW
- Variationist linguitics in World Englishes.
- Non-categorical variation between that and zero complementisers in Gibraltar English finite that-complement clauses.
- Copus linguistics and corpora compilation.
- Code-switching, code-mixing and multilingualism.
